Introduction Organisations Aspiring JETs Current JETs Former JETs

Application Timeline

It is important for all interested JET Programme applicants to realise that the application and selection process is long and competitive. Likewise, the decision to spend one year living and working in Japan is not a small decision and should be considered with input from family and friends. JET is a minimum one year commitment, and that is an important decision to face.

The recruitment, application and selection of new JET Programme participants is organised and carried out by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the Japanese Embassies and Consulates in participating countries. For the most accurate and reliable information about the application process, contact the Japanese Embassy in your country of citizenship.

Although CLAIR is not directly involved in the application process, we would like to provide the following general schedule as an outline of the application process. Again, this is only a general guide, and many of the dates vary by country, so for accurate information please contact the Japanese Embassy in your country.
